My Story:

I sometimes find it mind boggling the vast empires that are created and what is decide in a board room may have more consequences on the average person then the Presidential elections. It always surprises me where the money trail or subsidiary trail leads.

The idea that Monsanto is fully owned by a different company never occurred to me before I started writing my blog. Monsanto the giant biotech company that producing things like GMO (genetically modified orgasms), roundup and so much more. Any of it helping us or is all of what they do just hurting us in the long run.

If I choose to vote with my money it doesn’t help that much to not buy something from one company and then purchases things from another the owns the company I disagree with. If I avoid one, I should try to avoid all companies attached to one to make more of an impact.

Monsanto Company division of Pharmacia as a stand alone subsidiary of pharmaceutical company which in 2003 a subsidiary of Pfizer:

Monsanto has a long history staring in 1901 and today has it’s fingers everywhere spreading round up, protein based pesticides, GMO and much, much more.

Monsanto’s web page (1) states the history of the company and shows how Monsanto Company is part of the Pfizer “family”:

“2000
A new Monsanto Company, based on the previous agricultural division of Pharmacia, is incorporated as a stand-alone subsidiary of the pharmaceutical company. (Pharmacia itself eventually becomes a subsidiary of Pfizer, in 2003)”

History of Monsanto (2) :
1901- founded
to 1975 an ordinary company

Starting to take off:
(GMO -genetically mortified organism  in this case would be any changes to the original plant including genetically changed)

1976 - Roundup herbicide
1982 - purchase Jacob Hartz Seed Co and first to genetically modify a plant.
1984 - The Life Sciences Research Center
1987 - first trials on (gmo) plants

1994 - first biotech approved biotechnology product (Posilac, bovine somatotropin (Bst) for dairy cows.

As seen on the organic valley site (3) “Bovine somatotropin (BST) is a protein hormone naturally produced in the pituitary glands of cattle. Monsanto developed a recombinant version, rBST, by using a genetically engineered E. coli bacteria. Sold under the brand name “Posilac,” it is injected into cows to boost milk output in the short term. This practice is coming under increasing scrutiny. rBST is also known as rBGH (recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone).”

This may be better then drugging the animal but is healthy for the cow and those who consume the milk?

1996  - Acquires Agacetus and interest in Calgene both biotech companies. Introduce Soybeans that the herbiside Roundup  can be directly sprayed on to without killing the soybean. (GMO) .  GMO cotton introduced that the cotton is “protected from cotton bollwarm, tobacco budworm and pink bollworm.

How did soybeans survive  without Monsanto’s help? Are they really creating stronger plants or weaker ones always needing help from Monsanto?  The cotton seeds survived the millennium from many forms of attacks, did Monsanto improve on nature?

1998 - Monsanto purchases DeKalb Genetics Corp., introduces roundup Ready Corn (can be sprayed with roundup directly), and offers two genetic changes in one seed of “insect protection” and Roundup ready (non eddible Roundup sprayed on plants).

How did corps thrive and survive before these changes from Monsanto?

2000 - Monsanto is a stand alone subsidiary of pharmaceutical company and becomes a subsidiary of Pfizer in 2003.

Monsanto is growing stronger every year controlling a vast amount of assets and generating more money to work with. Combining forces and becoming stronger than one.

2002 - Monsanto separates from Pharmacia and sells hybrids of corn and soybean.

2003 - GMO corn to “protect” itself from Rootworm and is Roundup Ready. Plus a second generation of GMO cotton.

2004 - 2005 More modifications to seeds. Monsanto acquires Seminis, Inc. supplies more than 3,500 seed varieties to commercial fruit and vegetable  in more than 150 countries around the world.

2006 - Monsanto’s ASI subsidiary acquires seed companies Diener Seeds, Sieben Hybrids, Kruger Seed, Company, Trisler Seed Farms, Gold Country Seed, Inc., Hertiage Seeds and marketing and sales of Campbell’s seeds.

2007 - more gmo seed changes, jones Chicago Climate Exchange, sells Monsanto Choice Genetics, Inc,. Monsatnto and Dow AgroSciences launch SmartStax™,  with 8 gene stacked (gmo) seed.

2008 - Aly Paricipaoes Ltda and Alellyx S.A. both located in Brazil.  (sugarcane and breeding  technology) is acquired by Monsanto.  Monsanto acquires Semillas Cristiani Burkard (SCB) (seed cinoab head quartered in Guatemala, De Ruiter
Seeds Group, B.V. (Dutch holding company) dealing in hybrid vegetable seeds such as tomato, cucumber, aubergine, pepper, melon and rootstock. More second generation GMO soybeans.

2009 - Opens Water Utilization Learning Center in Nebraska, USA.Monsanto donates  cotton genome databases and about 4,000 GMO Cotton to Texas A&M system.
Monsanto announces a $10 million grant to establish Monsanto's Beachell-Borlaug International Scholars Program which is looking for new scientist to support the Monsanto way of thinking and to further what they are creating. More GMO’s with the launch of  Genuity™,  Monsanto pushes there GMO’s in Inda with the Project Share.

2010_ Monsanto is recognized by several companies like Fortune Magazine (were they just making lots of profits?)

Monsanto describes the corn giving to Haiti as conventional  and yet on another Monsanto web page (4)  they describe  “60 tons of HYBRID corn and vegetable seeds“ arrive in Haiti. Reacquisition of the Chesterfield Village Research Center in Mo. USA from  Pfizer Inc. Introduce Beneforte Brocolli and Ever Mild onions, new herbiside
Warrant™ and opens research mega site in Lubbock.

2011 - Monsanto open corn breeding facility in Flora, Miss. USA. USDA approval for planting Genuity® Roundup Ready® Alfalfa and Genuity® Roundup Ready® Sugarbeets, aquires Divergence, Inc another biotechnology research and development company working on parasitic nematodes and acquired Beeologics which tools to provide targeted control of pests and diseases.

Monsanto seems to be turning into a “cancerous” growth:

The “cancer” just keeps growing and growing and growing. It is looking like Monsanto the owner of Monsanto, Pfizer will control it all at the end of the day, if something doesn‘t change. The question is will there be anything left to savage. OR will the seed industry be all one company promoting GMO‘s. And who will decide what is best for everyone?

When there is no competition there is no improvement. There is no incentive to do more then what is most profitable. No one larger then them, except the government or people who choice not to buy products that may not be the best for everyone.

Final words:

“Cancers” can be stopped the best way is to send a clear message to change a company by voting with your dollars. Finding other ways then one companies way to take care of thing. I used Roundup, and hybrid seed and only some pesticides when I was younger. Today I run a clean operation and do not use any Herbicides, pesticides or hybrid or GMO  seeds. It is an easy choice to know I am helping the world instead of hurting it.

When each of us becomes a little more healthy the less we need a company doing everything for us.

Looking at the whole picture always helps me make a better choice. Be more proactive we can all become just a little bit better and the more likely the negative results in life can be avoided. Stand up tall with an upright posture and be proactive. The solution  helps to keep moving the best direction is to step onto the path of True Health.  Discover a new world. Help yourself, help the world, step on to the Path of True Health and vote with your dollars  company you want to support to create a world you will love to live in. I do, and I like the world I am helping to create. Together we can create a better life for all to remember over their entire lifetime  Together we can protect what we have so we don’t need to live in a world that is second rate.
