Bird virus (H7N9)

My story:
Part of the adults in the Yellow-billed tiding trying to                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                protect  their baby the day before the baby bird died

I could hear the Yellow-billed Magpie tidings protecting their baby with screams as my cat neared the little bird who had not learned to fly yet. This time the little bird did not move for a reason. His undamaged body laid on the bare ground dead. There was nothing to do for the dead except take care of the body. There was no way to tell the parents that their baby was dead, only time would tell them that sad news that all their efforts were in vain.

I carefully picked up his little lifeless body wrapped it in a plastic bag and slid it into the freezer encase the public health wanted to understand why this little guy died. (2) No one to know except me and the tiding. No more warning screams of stay away. Just return to living without one little life around to grow.

I do not know exactly why this lone survivor of the tidings new generation died. In the last 10 days he seemed to be doing fine. Magpies help to keep the rodent population down which puts them at risk of tainted food from other animals being affected by pesticides and poisonings. (4)  They are part of the balancing of the environmental system. I am always happy to see them around my farm and home. I do not use poison to protect the wildlife and my pets.

It seems like the Yellow-billed Magpie had been hit hard with a loss of half the population in recent years. The good news is that change in nature can be good the population from a survey by the Audubon California (1) with the help of many volunteers is showing changing population to 3,200 birds in 24 countries in 2011,
3,600 birds in 22 counties in 2010 and more than 1,800 birds in 18 counties 2009. This is an effort in helping this small population to survive. The question is will it be enough. Today's numbers are not even close to the the birds that died in 2006 of over 12,000. (6) Could the Yellow-billed Magpie survive another attack from the unknown?

Bird virus affecting some people in China:

The manatee (3), the prairie birds, the butterfly’s the bees and now Yellow-billed Magpies. It seems a pattern of death and destruction nipping at the heels of humanity, created by humanity.

If the animals are disappearing at an alarming rate what makes mankind so special? Bird virus in humans in china. (5)  The manatee, the prairie birds, the butterfly’s the bees and now the Yellow-billed Magpies all at risk. Is it only a matter of time for man to follow with massive amounts of death not from bombs or guns, something just waiting to pounce, something hidden in the environment?

The bird virus (H7N9)  (5) that has affected people in China may be a sign of things that are here to stay and change.  60 cases and 13 deaths so far without human to human transmission affecting both adults and children. This is similar to the  outbreak in 2003 of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (Sars) affecting over 8,000 people with over 700 deaths. Is this the first step before the next inevitable progression of changing life?

Would we think and act more wisely if more than half the human population disappeared like Yellow-billed Magpie ( population disappeared in a year? What makes us so special that we are exempt from the natural progress of nature?

Final words:
This was only one small bird that represents a larger picture, an idea that if we protect them we will be protecting us in the long run. What affects the birds, animals, insects, other people in other countries in the long run will affect us. We see that in bird flu affecting people and people virus’s affecting birds. There is a way to  help one to help all.

Discover a new world. Help yourself, help the world, step on to the Path of True Health and vote with your dollars to create a world you will love to live in. I do and I like the world I am creating. Together we can create a better life for all to remember over their entire life time. Together we can protect what we have so we don’t have to create a world that is second rate.
