“First Pope resign in 600 years: ill, old or unhealthy?” ~ Cynthia G. Creel

Our thoughts are with all who are involved with choosing a new pope, the leader of 1.2 billion people. This is a time for thoughts and prayers for Pope Pope Benedict XVI. and the new leadership to be born out of change.

“First Pope resign in 600 years: ill, old or unhealthy?”
~ Cynthia G. Creel

Birthday  time! It comes around only once a year and time to celebrate another year of living. Cake, presents, cards and best wishes would make for a wonderful day.  This year would be totally different, I would only be thinking we were spending the day working and a small celebration with my family. A party was the furthest thing from my mind, too overwhelming, too much work for the result. I just couldn't do the party thing any more, no ability to plan, think, clean, bake, etc. I, however. could wrap my mind around going out to dinner and letting someone else cook for me, now that was a treat.  Today, I would call it an unhealthy treat.

An excuse was made to stop by the church and I came alone to help pick up a few items. I was directed to a room which made my eyes pop when I hear the word, “SURPRISE!” Yep, my family got me, I could hardly believe my eyes seeing everyone from childhood friends to friends I had made in just the last year. A real party that lasted way too short for me.

One of my favorite pictures of me was taken by my friend as I walked through the door being surprised with my family surrounding me. I looked around,  realized how much work my family and best friend had put into the night to make it special for me they cared about me more then I cared about me.

I think back now and realize this birthday celebration could have been my last. It wasn't even 6 months later another friend of mine took another picture of me at a Christmas party. At the time I thought, I look fat, but not that bad, he caught me at a good angle. That was about 30 days before I was diagnosed with high bad cholesterol over 300, high triglycerides almost 800, low good cholesterol under 40 and many items that were at the top end of the range or way over normal.  At this point my persecutions were sewed not even realizing my face had doubled in size looking as round and fat as a pie. If I had not been taken to the doctor’s  I would have stayed home until I died, chest pains and all.

I was not old or diseased, I was unhealthy. During this time in my life I could not think how to help anyone else not even myself, I was overwhelmed by the world and could only  handle simple tasks I had completed 1,000’s of times. I couldn't lead my family, let alone any business.

So the question came to my mind what happens to a leader, lets say one who influences 1.2 billion people in multiple countries and cultures bought together by one organization lead by one man like the Pope Benedict XVI.

How effective of leader do we have if they do not posses or on a path of True Health? Even a great leader creating great acts seems to be affected in some ways from having to step down early to dying early. We are left to find a replacement that may or may not be as adequate as the person we are replacing.

Many times the time to plan is ignored and the news leaves us all scrambling to wonder who will or to find someone able to fill a very large set of shoes. All because of a lack of understanding and knowledge that most depend on a medical professional to know what they need to know to help the body to work. This can only happen if the medical professional understand something more then cutting our body parts or giving only prescription drugs as a choice, both which are emergency measures that eliminate symptoms helping the body to function slightly better or maybe significantly better.  Yet, usually ignore are the underlying cause of why did cancer form in the first place or what is causing the brake down of the circulatory system that the heart needs a pace maker? Why are the cells abnormal or why is the liver producing low quality elements that cause problems. Most important of all what actions can each person take to help their bodies and minds work better even if a surgery or medication is needed?

CNN reports on the Vatican giving a statement for the reasons behind the recent resignation of Pope Benedict XVI, 85, according to Vatican,  "Strength of mind and body are necessary, strength which in the last few months has deteriorated in me to the extent that I have had to recognize my incapacity to adequately fulfill the ministry entrusted to me," (1) This descriptions was exactly how I felt, only on my scale I had to only take care of myself and family. The difference in age was 35 years the difference in feeling most likely zero.

Now I know no matter what age you are 50 or 85 if you are not in a range of True Health it steals your thoughts, energy and ability to help the world or yourself. The choice or facts of becoming dependent upon others or changing moving back towards True Health to find what was lost or never seen before. This allows anyone to help themselves so they are able to help others. Life becomes much easier to live and accomplish when this happens.

The affects of Pope Benedict XVI stepping down will most likely at this time be the best decision, due to the fact he is physically unable to perform his duties. The thought comes to mind why is he the first pope in 600 years (2) to step down? This brought me to the thought of how may items we have in our environment and what we decide is ok to use that has a risk to it that we chose to ignore or never find out about it. With the Billions of people on this Earth, why would “bad choices” only effect the “ordinary” people? Just by shear odds, there are leaders of a few to billions that are the functioning unhealthy, they are able to do a job until the day the scales tip and are no longer able to function beyond their own self. At this point the leader many not even be able to function long term with the focus on themselves. I was left with a face that showed the world how unhealthy it was all puffy and white. Today looking a the pictures of the Pope I see the similarities in our looks. The only difference is I was able to change the course of my body from unhealthy to healthy with age being only one factor, more importantly the factor that counted the most was if my body would be able to repair itself no matter what age? Today there is no question my face is not as large as a “plate” most do not guess my age at 15 years older than I am. I am not special, I only have a body that is functioning normally allowing me to think, to do, to help myself and others.

It seems in the last few decades the unhealthy out number the healthy by a clear majority affecting the world leaders and business leaders alike. Steve Jobs (3) is an excellent example of a person that had the look of health, high functioning until the day he had to step down. Over a short period of time he passed away from pancreatic cancer, only delaying his death by a less then a decade.

Cancer is created by body that is no longer functioning correctly from environmental influences such as a virus. The one thing Steve Jobs didn't understand was his body, not even knowing what a pancreas was until his diagnoses of cancer. (3) LA Times reports on Steve Jobs death on October 6, 2011,  “Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, who passed away today at the age of 56, had a rare form of pancreatic cancer called pancreatic neuroendocrine cancer, which produces islet cell or neuroendocrine tumors.” (4)

We can not afford to loose our great leaders of businesses, religion, or the world simply because they are unhealthy and they make a choice to ignore the health of their own body or understand how it works.
So many leaders make a mistake that they are leaders and are too busy help run an organization. This issue of becoming healthy is stressful for many and is ignored with little understanding of how the body works and what makes a person healthy. This subject is only confused more by the fact of half truths based on what was once believed, being spread around like wild fire.

The one truth I know is the body doesn't lie. A person can lie deliberately or accidentally to themselves and to others, the body tells a truth that only has to be recognized and accepted as a fact for the moment. Something that has to change or death will come sooner than later assuming there is not accident that takes a life before nature. There is a reason why we look away from the unhealthy only able to over come this if there is a reason, like they are too busy leading 1.2 billion people or being a boss to stop and realize the danger they are in from the body calling out for help. To realized the first signs of distress from snoring and heart disease (5)  to gaining a few extra pounds every year or over a short period of time.  The signs are fast and always there through observation or the correct blood work.

What have we have  lost because of one man not taking care of himself, depending on others to solve the problems? We end up with a man that has the looks of a body being desperate to function, the signs of becoming unreasonably unhealthy.

If the first signs of heart disease is snoring (5) and the only actions that is being taken is to poke your partner to role over then that leaves the body’s truth to shine through until eventually the statement to the doctor’s might be “I am having chest pains” or the next sign that is recognized is the blurted out words of  “call 911 I think I am having a heart attack!” That is if a person has time to speak before the grim ripper takes this person who has just appeared at the top of the list.

The last thought I have to give is there is a chance to change everyday by the choices that are made to move us towards True Health or away from True Health. The more a person knows about their own body and that it is self repairing. Under “normal” functioning, the body is designed to repair. The more a person can start to counteract the effects of life gives the body and brain the best chance to stay Truly Healthy avoiding the body breaking down by it’s own inabilities or ones that are inflicted upon it by one’s self or others.

If we are closer to True Health we feel better, think better, do more and are able to help others help themselves more. Even a little better health gives us success with a little more happiness and peace within. The more healthy or leaders are the better choices they may make and the longer they might be able to serve the world though a computer program or from a pulpit.

The world needs good leaders to help point out the best way, ones that live long with high functioning bodies and minds, ones that can serve us and themselves at the highest levels possible. If being healthy isn't a priority to their personnel life the possibility of a high risk  of sub quality leadership while actively leading or having to leave unexpectedly becomes a higher reality. Luckily this reality can be counteracted by the path of True Health helping our leaders and ourselves to move forward together.

The loss of a great leader hurts us all, the loss of a leader preforming below their penitential is equally a loss. Having leader ship that is using every way to perform well, we all win. We all have something to gain or loose, it is depended upon what we are willing to except.
