"What's in that? Chipotle's commitment to leaving GMO's behind" ~ Cynthia G. Creel 6-17-2013

"What's in that?
 Chipotle's commitment
to leaving GMO's behind"

My story:

I pick up the can of tomatoes and look at the label and it list: Tomatoes. I think that’s  all most like saying nothing. What kind? Genetically  modified organism or not?

I meet friends at a restaurant  and  look at the menu. Pasta with marinara sauce.  Calories 750. What kind of tomatoes were used?  What else is in this?

There is no making a great choice if the consumer only has a small part of the information. The exciting news is there is a change happening.  A fast food chain giving us the most information about the food on the menu. Chipoltle is a Mexican fast food chain  giving us what we are demanding.

Chipotle's restaurant:

Chipotle has always marketed itself as a healthy alternative to fast food, having taken steps from the beginning to eliminate things like dairy products produced using the artificial growth hormone rBST, for instance, and replacing them with pasture-raised dairy products. Chipotle has also played a key role in propelling forward the local agriculture movement by sourcing as many locally-grown and organic ingredients as possible, and eliminating artificial additives and other toxins commonly used in fast food as seen in Natural News (1)

Chipotle’s new commitment:

As found on the Chipotle web site (2) GMO’s are being phased out quickly:

Statement from Chipotle web site (2)
“GMO’s - The WHO (that’s the World Health Organization, not the seminal British rock band) defines Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO’s) as ‘organisms in which the genetic material (DNA) has been altered in a way that does not occur naturally” Our goal is to eliminate GMO’s from Chipotle’s ingredients, and were working hard to meet this challenge. For example, we recently switched our fryers from soybean oil to sunflower oil. Soybean oil is almost always made from genetically modified soybeans, while there is no commercially available GMO sunflower oil. Where our food contains currently unavoidable GM ingredients, it is only the form of corn or soy. “

Final words: :

The Chipotle GMO statement  tells us this is what we are serving you and there is a lot of room for improvement. It takes time and demand for the farming industry to change to non GMO’s. Having Chipotle make the push to non GMO’s is a great start. Keeping this trend alive and moving to a permanent way of life will take a little more time

Be more proactive we can all become just a little bit better and the more likely the negative results in life can be avoided. Stand up tall with an upright posture and be proactive.

The solution  helps to keep moving the best direction is to step onto the path of True Health.  Discover a new world. Help yourself, help the world, step on to the Path of True Health and vote with your dollars  company you want to support to create a world you will love to live in. I do, and I like the world I am helping to create.
Together we can create a better life for all to remember over their entire lifetime  Together we can protect what we have so we don’t need to live in a world that is second rate.
