“Angelina Jolie’s choice almost eliminates one risk of cancer: Could the risk of cancer
be lowered for all cancer without cutting?
~ Cynthia G. Creel

I wrote about Angelina Jolie’s double mastectomy and my choice to keep my body parts and limit my risk thought other measures. (1)
Although there are times it is necessary to cut out body parts like when my gallbladder was about to burst, it was removed to save my life. Those times are clear to save a life a part of the body must be eliminated. Is a risk enough to make cutting out a body part enough? Is there more to consider of risk and timing?
Some facts about cancer :
According to the Center of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) (2) only heart disease causes more deaths then cancer. In 2008 more than half a million people died from cancer and almost 1.5 million were diagnosed with cancer. The cost in the United States goes beyond the estimated $263.8 billion spent on medical and lost productivity in 2010. The cost includes more than the care of a person but all who face the reality of the emotional, social and spiritual drain of a cancer diagnosis and treatment regiment. This affects all races and ethnicities, but not equally. In 2008 the death rate per 100,000 people for all types of cancer together was 211 for African Americans, 175 for whites, 123 for American Indians/Alaska Natives, 117 Hispanics, and 109 for Asians/Pacific islanders.
Cancer survivors are at greater risk for developing a second cancer and a reoccurrence of the original cancer.
The National Cancer institute reported by the CDC (3) 2 out of 3 people of the estimates 13.7 million people with a previous cancer diagnosis in the United States will live at least five years after the diagnosis. Cancer survivors are at greater risk for recurrence and for developing second cancers due to the effects of treatment, unhealthy lifestyle behaviors, underlying genetics, or risk factors that contributed to the first cancer.
The question I am thinking about today is:
A double mastectomy and a hysterectomy limit the chances of developing breast or ovarian cancer. what about the risk of developing any cancer?
Focusing only on one cancer limits the protection a choice can offer. Yes, both of these operations limit the risk of cancer yet not illuminate the risk of cancer over all. The risk will still be there for breast and other body parts. Given the choice between cutting and preventing. I choose preventing and cutting if there is circumstances change. Which may limit my risk not only for breast and ovarian cancer plus all other cancers.
Angelina Jolie’s is a brave women by her actions. What I question is the true message she just sent out to the world. Angelina Jolie is a women with a voice that stands for what is the best actions to take. Her actions reflects what she says. The message she sent limiting and does not offer full protection from cancer. It is a personal choice and so it is not about being right or wrong. It is about the effects the choices of a person of influence that counts. Talking about the odds only and the genetic factors is an incomplete picture that directs woman to cut instead of think and weigh the choices. Some may rely on Angelina Jolie’s judgment instead of their own. They may think what is best for her is best them.
The messages we all send out to the group of people we influence is just as important. What we do as individuals affects more then just us it affects those who value our judgment. If our judgment is flawed or not the affects can spread to one or millions.
The idea of Cancer is scary. The idea of something inside that can not be control easily or maybe at all is scary. What we believe does not have to be true that may influence our decisions. When we look for the truth, belief may be balanced out the judgment that may help us find the best way.
Final words:
I do wish the best for Angelina Jolie. I believe she made the best decision based on the information she collected just like I have done. No person should have to live with the idea they are destined to develop cancer. The possibility most like can never be eliminated completely.
Decisions are easy when you have facts, the question is do you have actual facts and are all sides of the issue being thought of? It is best for each of us to find a way to limit the risk in life to lead a full life to raise our children (if you have them) and to be around for our grandchildren or great grand children. To be a part of life and not just watch life pass by. I have done both and living life is what makes life worth it with or without breasts.
What is right for one person is as always their choice. Only time tells us if we may have taken the best path. It is for each of us to find what is best for ourselves. It is the choices we make that decides our fate.
The more proactive we can all become the more likely the negative results in life can be avoided. Stand up tall with an upright posture and be proactive. The solution helps to keep moving the best direction is to step onto the path of True Health. Discover a new world. Help yourself, help the world, step on to the Path of True Health and vote with your dollars company you want to support to create a world you will love to live in. I do, and I like the world I am helping to create. Together we can create a better life for all to remember over their entire lifetime Together we can protect what we have so we don’t need to live in a world that is second rate.

Milk week with the "cancerous" aphids attached sucking the life out of the plant, yet the milk week will survive and produce seeds mostly unaffected by these little "vampires".
There is now some advertising on my page, I do not necessarily endorse the products sold. Look carefully I do not always have control over the ads placed. So please consider the larger picture before purchasing anything. Thank you for being proactive
