“Type 1 Diabetes may be reversible soon:
Maybe no more test strips or insulin shots”

My Story:
In 2009 I knew my brother was not doing well, he hadn’t been doing well for a while. I originally thought it was because he wasn’t eating right and inviting him to dinner every night. When that didn’t work we sent him to the doctors and a few days later he ended up in the hospital with blood sugars at almost 500. Type one diabetes was the new vocabulary word that became a part of our every day lives. We were lucky he didn’t die, he had a second change to live and I was going to help him to do his best, to help himself.
With a fist full of drugs to keep him going and time it became clear there was a lot to learn. Today he is only taking insulin and doing well. In the last three years it has been a journey without much help from the medical or nutritionists of how to cure or reduce the medications safely.
The day we were told he should eat butter and bacon to gain weight was the day I knew there was a better ways, there was more to the story for us to discover. He is doing tons better today, yet he is not out of the woods yet. One of the best side effects of the changes we incorporated was a working mind. If you have ever been around a diabetic that doesn’t have there body under control the mind has a difficult time functioning or even remembering. They struggle in every day events.
It seems today we are getting one step closer to my brother not having to take insulin injections to function instead just produce the insulin like every other healthy adult. Life would be grand if that become possible.
Study show hope to reverse type one diabetes with TB vaccine:
According to The Crimson (3) in 2008 Harvard Medical School study found a vaccine developed to treat tuberculosis (TB) many be a cure for diabetes. The study suggests the possibility of reversing Type 1 diabetes by manipulation of the immune system with the TB vaccine used long term which would cause a small amount of inflammation that might stop the abnormal immune cells from damaging or destroying the cells of the pancreas that are responsible for producing insulin.
One of the authors of the study, Denise L. Faustmanal, used the TB vaccine to effectively cure cancer in mice. Also several later studies supporting the possibility of the pancreas in mice being able to regenerate. The possibilities could be high in helping other auto immune disorders in the future if it works with diabetes.
Use of a protein to help protect the pancreas:
As reported by The Innovations-report (6) Pitt researchers used a type of protein produced by the immune system to prevent type 1 diabetes in mice prone to developing the type one diabetes by 6 months old. In type one diabetes the body is attacking itself destroying the function of pancreas leading to uncontrolled blood sugars and the possible development of blindness, kidney failure, heart disease and nerve damage. One author of the study said in the future it may be able to prevent type one diabetes even if the person caring a gene for type one diabetes.
Possible transplant cell cure for type one diabetes:
According to one of the newest studies (1) Pancreatic islet (cells) transplants have been around for 40 years with the survival of transplanted cells at risk. The researchers transplanted pancreatic islets from mice to replace the destroyed B cells in a type one diabetes and possible reversing type one diabetes creating an ability for the pancreas to produce own insulin.
As said by The Innovations-report (6) an advanced study of transplanting pancreatic islets in monkeys is now underway. In the near future human trials my be started.
Study learn from mom to child transfer of DNA:
According to The Innovations-report (4) that mother and infant exchange stem cells during the pregnancy A Bristol team looked at maternal cells in the offspring and found some of the maternal cells functioning and insulin-producing in the child’s pancreas that may be helping to repair the child‘s pancreas. There was no evidence the material cells were attacking the child‘s insulin cells. . In an autopsy a small amount of female beta cells were found in male pancreatic tissues that produce insulin.
Microchimerism is when the individual or child harbors cells or DNA from another origin like the mother. The authors suggest this new discover may lead to a therapeutic benefit.
Final words:
It is clear there are many new answers being discovered that may solve and incurable problem of the past, Type 1 diabetes. If my brother and the millions of other type 1 diabetics have a chance of being off insulin long term after new ideas have to be tested and found safe, it will be a freedom most would not expect in their lifetime. It could free up resources to be spent somewhere it is needed rather than a constant flow of money and time spent on insulin shots, test papers with doctor’s visits and lab work. It could lower risk of other health issues.
Having a solution work directory with the body is idea. We do not always get to select which method will work well. If profit and money doesn't get in the way the best answer may be found easier. I am rooting for TB shots to work. It seems the best on the surface.
There is no guarantee in life to find better ways for the body to help itself to repair itself. It looks like researchers are on the right track and we might just start saying possible instead of impossible to find a way to cure. The luxury of not having to store or use insulin to a diabetic would be a dream come true.
The more proactive we can all become the more likely the negative results in life can be avoided. Stand up tall with an upright posture and be proactive. The solution helps to keep moving the best direction is to step onto the path of True Health. Discover a new world. Help yourself, help the world, step on to the Path of True Health and vote with your dollars company you want to support to create a world you will love to live in. I do, and I like the world I am helping to create. Together we can create a better life for all to remember over their entire lifetime Together we can protect what we have so we don’t need to live in a world that is second rate.
