“Intelligent Conversation can save Republicans and Democrats:
Republicans take a long hard look at what is wrong.”

My story:

When I was a kid I disliked two things, not being right and boring politics. I didn’t complain about being wrong, it just made me feel “dumb”, no one pointed out that I wasn’t correct in a mean or demeaning way. I just knew I didn’t get it right and had to do better. That was one reason I didn’t like politics I felt like I couldn’t get it right when I was young. I didn’t understand that much. However I knew at 18 in America I had the right to vote and it was my responsibility to do my best and make a choice to vote. I always questioned if I was able to do justice to the process of deciding and voting.

Today, I fully participate in the political process and can truly see how differently a conservative mind works vs. a liberal mind as I wrote about Republican  and Democrats having different brains in “Cultivating the mind for more solutions” (1)  about the difference in brain function  conservatives thinking through a process considering fear and liberals thinking process that includes another’s perspective.

I care and I learned conversations and know how to vote wasn’t about being right it is about knowing the truth and doing what is right. When I help people to register to vote or ask them to sign a petition it is not which side they agree with, it is the way they are thinking that counts. I find a wide variety of ideas from, “I don’t know enough or care enough” to “I understanding  exactly what is going on”.  No matter what how much advertising affected peoples way of thinking and decisions at that moment I was out there to help people to understand and the more they understood the better choices they might make. This would be each person which includes large groups made up of many like minded people. I found a lot of “I am right no matter what the facts show” on both sides of the fence.

The facts:

There are two new ideas out this week that relate to your health, our thinking and the growth of America.  As reported on CBS This Morning (3), author Judith Glaser speaks of an idea of intelligent conversation. While
a new report, Growth Opportunity Project out this week as provided  by Wall Street Journal, shows how far off thinking can become. This report has analyzed the republican party to find some underlying causes to why they haven’t been as successful  in the last 5 of 6 elections. And the project asked people who left the party to paint a new picture, the descriptions that Republican Party was "scary," "narrow minded," and "out of touch" and that we were a Party of "stuffy old men." These ideas were found though other post-election surveys.

What does it all mean?

Are this two issues of lack of ability to have an inelegant conversation and being out of touch with the “real” world especially if a persons world only includes like minded people. I believe we are seeing a symptom of a much larger underlying issues related to how well a person is doing in their own life and body.

As the great mind of Eleanor Roosevelt said, “Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people.” I might put a twist on it  that a healthy person’s mind is able to talk about people, events and ideas. The good part is everyone can improve their mind on the path of True Health to help create a way to find common ground to build on.

The idea a person has to be right no matter what the facts show just because they don’t want to be wrong holds us back, The idea of the lack of intelligent conversation where things are not personnel attacks, is just a platform to create better ideas. This inability creates a non hostile environment where little can be accomplished and holds us back.

Final words:

We can always improve by thinking about something, we can only improve our minds by a life style chance to include True Health. I see a change in America, a little at a time. I see people using the right language of how our thoughts should be focused. I hope the reality is there that the ideas are not being twisted to create profit or votes only. The words reflect the reality of becoming a strong nation again. The competition in the world is  greater, we are over all the best in the world even while the world is catching up. If we do nothing it is likely others will pass us up. Having a large political party show it’s weaknesses helps every one to become stronger and create some intelligent conversation.  It is up to each person to do their best to help move America forward.

On of the best ways to help is to step on to the Path of True Health. That’s when the intelligent conversations start and ideas begin to move us all forward.
